Our Story
Birchwood Montessori Academy; is a family-owned and operated school. Once
upon a time, in the bustling city of Lagos, there stood a quaint little school known
as “Little Heights, Beacon Hill International School” (LHBH). It was a place where
dreams took flight, and the laughter of children echoed through the halls. This
cherished school was run by a passionate and dedicated woman named Lateefat
Sewanu Adeyemi, Amina Adeyemi’s mum, who poured her heart and soul into
nurturing the young minds that graced her classrooms.
However, fate had different plans for Amina, and she embarked on a journey to the United States, leaving behind the school she loved so dearly. It was in the US that she discovered a world of possibilities for her own children when they began their educational journey in kindergarten, immersing themselves in a vibrant community and an enriched curriculum, including Spanish immersion programs. The stark difference between the educational systems left Amina pondering the disparity faced by children in Nigeria. She vowed to bridge the gap and bring the boundless opportunities she witnessed in the US back to her homeland. Thus, the idea of Birchwood Montessori Academy was born.
Amina’s dream was simple but profound – to provide every child in Nigeria with
an unparalleled educational foundation that would ignite the flames of curiosity,
passion, and potential within them. Birchwood Montessori Academy would be the
beacon of hope that illuminated young minds and united the future generations of
Nigeria. During a heartfelt video call with her parents and siblings, Amina shared her dream, rallying their support. Their united passion fueled the journey ahead.
With unwavering determination, Amina and her family collaborated tirelessly.
Birchwood Montessori Academy took shape, promising a vibrant environment
with colorful classrooms and a joyful playground. Technology intertwined with
teaching, while teachers would embody compassion and mentorship. The
curriculum celebrated Nigeria’s culture and global wisdom, nurturing independent
thinkers
At Birchwood Montessori Academy, the ethos would be simple yet profound – the

deserves the chance to soar. It was an unwavering commitment to bring the
